Craft workshops and parties in East Dulwich, South London

Jolly Jubilee Bunting (Beginners)

We love bunting! Rows of colourful triangles fluttering in the breeze make us think of street parties and scrummy cream teas.

Choose from our embarrassingly large collection of Jubilee themed fabrics, go wild and crazy and create yards of the stuff! Decorate your bunting with lace, ribbons, buttons, bows, bells, whatever takes your fancy. Perfect for decorating a garden party or even the whole of your road!

This workshop is suitable for someone who has never sewn on a machine before. We’ll show you how to cut the bunting and arrange the flags, thread a machine, make it go forwards & backwards and do straight and zigzag stitches.

Note: To really hone your sewing skills we also recommend you also come to one of our cushion or dressmaking workshops.

Date: Monday, 28th May

Time: 7.00 – 9.00pm

Cost: £30 This includes use of our machines, and all materials such as lovely fabric (although you are welcome to bring your own if you fancy a different theme), trims and tapes, full notes so you can make yards more at home and the all-important tea and biscuits, so you only need to bring yourselves.

Loyalty Discount: We will give you a smashing £5 discount (refunded via Paypal on booking) if you book more than one workshop at once.

Create a Cushion: Envelope Style (Beginners)

Everyone loves cushions. Not only are they a cheap and easy way to renovate your interiors (and we all need that these days!) but they are also a great beginner’s Learn to Sew project and marvellous for using up fabric leftovers. Go from zero to hero with a machine in only one evening with this fun workshop!

You will learn about fabric, cutting, sewing equipment and all the ins and outs of a sewing machine (threading up, winding the bobbin, stitch types and uses etc). You’ll have plenty of opportunity to practice to gain confidence and then produce a feather-filled envelope style cushion to take home with you. We promise you will be proud of yourself!

Note: To really hone your sewing skills we also recommend you come to the invisible zip cushion, dressmaking or quilting workshops.

Time: 7.00 – 9.30pm

Cost: £45. This includes use of our machines, and all materials such as lovely fabric (although you are welcome to bring your own), a feather filled cushion pad, full notes and the all-important tea and biscuits, so you only need to bring yourselves.

Smashing Girl’s Sundress (Beginners)

Always wanted to learn how to use a sewing machine and produce a beautiful sundress for your daughter or another special little girl? This is the workshop for you. In a small group you will learn how to cut out a pattern, thread the machine, hem, seam and make the most adorable sundress for girls aged 1 – 8 (please let us know the size you want to create when booking). This class is aimed at the beginner although if you want a simpler first project to get your confidence up then do consider attending our envelope cushion class first.

What a satisfying way to spend an evening (and we promise we’re not a bit like the scary sewing teachers from school!). We bet that once you have made one, you won’t be able to stop. That’s the little lady’s bespoke summer wardrobe sorted at a fraction of the price!

Create more Cushions: Invisible Zip (Beginner +/Intermediate level)

If you can sew a bit, but want a few confidence building techniques so you can go on and create more adventurous things then this is the class for you.

You know how much we love making cushions. We find them an infinitely cheap and cheerful way to add some va va voom to a room in these credit crunched times. In fact, we love them so much we are going to show you another way to make them – this time with a nifty invisible zip.

In this intermediate level workshop we will focus on the technique of changing the presser foot and inserting an invisible zip. You will then produce a gorgeous zipped cushion to take home with you and gaze at admiringly. Once you have mastered the zip the world is your (sewing) oyster – off you go to make skirts, bags and more.

Note: This class is not aimed at the absolute beginner. Please ensure you have either attended the Envelope Cushion workshop, or know how to thread up a machine and can sew in a straight line.

Date: Tuesday, 26th June

Time: 7.00 – 10.00pm

Cost: £45. This includes use of our machines, and all materials such as lovely fabric (although you are welcome to bring your own), a feather filled cushion pad, full notes and the all-important tea and biscuits, so you only need to bring yourselves.

Loyalty Discount: We will give you a smashing £5 discount (refunded via Paypal on booking) if you book more than workshop at once.
