Create an Heirloom Quilt

This three week workshop is the perfect introduction to the gentle and creative art of quilting.

In a small and friendly group we will show you how to choose complimentary fabrics, backing and bindings. We will then learn to use a rotary cutter and board and piece together the top of your quilt by machine. Find out about different types of batting, baste your quilt then choose whether to machine or hand stitch it together. Finally you will make bias binding to finish your masterpiece. Create a small but perfectly formed lap quilt, perfect for a baby’s cot, a playmat or as a pretty wall hanging to gaze at admiringly!

We have a wide range of lovely fabrics for you to choose from, but we also encourage you to bring special fabrics from home – children’s clothes, unusual tablecloths, things gathered from your holidays or even men’s shirts – to stitch special memories into your unique piece.

Please note that, whilst you do not need to be an expert seamstress to enjoy this workshop, you must be comfortable around a sewing machine, able to thread up and sew in a straight line. One of The Scarlet Peacock’s beginners’ sewing workshops will get you up to speed. If you book this together with another sewing workshop we will give you a smashing £5 discount (refunded via Paypal after booking).

Sorry, but these workshops have currently sold out. Join our newsletter and be the first to hear about new classes added! Or please drop us an email and let us know you want one.
